Seawork 2017 is being held at the waterside location Mayflower Park in Southampton, UK from 13 to 15 June 2017.

Since 1998 Seawork has delivered a unique on-shore and on-water trade exhibition. Seawork is Europe’s largest commercial marine exhibition with conference and awards attracting 7,500 industry professionals, 10,000 products and services plus over 70 vessels.

Seawork’s move to Mayflower Park has increased the capacity for on water exhibitors, which has made the on water exhibition at the very heart of the event. Over 70 vessels and craft suited to a host of operations, ranging from 10m to 80m, will be available for visitors to view. On water demonstrations are a vital part of Seawork and exhibitors are always kept busy with a stream of potential customers ready to assess the performance of their craft. A variety of vessels regularly slip from the marina to utilise the fast demonstration area on Southampton Water.

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) engages with maritime professionals at Seawork who can attend meet-the-buyer sessions arranged by longstanding supporters the Department for International Trade (DIT was formerly UKTI) in order to discuss export and tendering opportunities.

For many years Seawork has welcomed inward international delegations from a diverse range of countries, all of whom attend to explore far-reaching procurement opportunities worth many £millions. VIPs have attended Seawork from China, Bahamas, USA, New Zealand, Italy and Brazil. Seawork 2017 will be no exception, with seven delegations anticipated to attend this landmark event.

Seawork 2017 opening times are Tuesday 13 June 09.30 to 17.30, Wednesday 14 June 09.30 to 17.30, Thursday 15 June 09.30 to 17.00.

As Europe’s leading event of its kind, Seawork will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in style, with a packed schedule including the Seawork Conference which will once again be offering thought-provoking sessions covering a wide variety of topics, including Search and Rescue, Government Funding and Hybrid Technology.

The Seawork conference will be located on board the vessel Ocean Scene, moored on the pontoons at Seawork. Entry to the seminars is free of charge and is available on a first come first served basis. Sessions include:-

PANEL DISCUSSION: 'Shock Mitigation, International Vibration Directives and the Implications of Brexit'

As the UK marine industry considers the implications of Brexit this session looks at how fast craft requirements and expectations are changing for the professional and commercial sectors in Europe and the US. A challenge for builders of fast workboats and military vessels on both sides of the Atlantic is delivering platforms that balance high performance with the physical demands on crew and passengers. The consistent objective is that passengers arrive safely at their destination ready to perform a task.

Technical shock mitigation solutions currently include more efficient hull forms, appendages to improve trim and ride quality plus suspension seating and cushion decking materials. But shock mitigation is not just about reducing injury - organisations can increase sea time for assets, cover greater distances at higher speeds, improve crew performance and extend operational effectiveness.

A high incidence of injuries to personnel can affect the overall performance of any maritime organisation, but there is no 'one off' solution to the demands of fast boats at sea. Recent activity has been driven by the need to comply with Vibration Directives, which will still apply with or without Brexit. Panel Lead, John Haynes of Shock Mitigation, has brought together industry experts to identify genuine innovations - and answer the hard questions!!
