Offshore Support Vessel Forum 2015 is being held from 9th to 10th March 2015 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

OSV 2015 will highlight the advancements in building, maintenance, inspection strategies and technologies for the Offshore Support Vessel (OSV) sector.

Despite the recent drop in oil prices, investment into developing new and unconventional resources continues to increase as planned in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). In particular more offshore fields are being developed, which in turn has a knock on effect on the demand for Offshore Support Vessels.

The Middle Eastern region has seen a rise in demand for DP (Dynamic Positioning) vessels which help improve the maneuverability and accuracy of their operations. There is also a new emphasis on efficient power management systems which can help the vessel operators reduce fuel consumption and in turn operational costs.

Just like other sectors of the energy industry, the OSV industry has its own set of challenges. These include rigorous vessel inspection policies, finding highly trained crew members, stringent standards set by local operating companies, fleet upgrade requirements to comply with environmental regulations and new technologies such as dynamic positioning, LNGPac systems and improved propulsion systems. 

Attendees at OSV 2015 will explore new and effective methods to train, recruit and manage human resources to ensure safe and reliable operations. The forum will also discuss recent innovations with regard to design, technology and operations of AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) and ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) to conduct efficient surveys.
