Maritime Autonomous Systems Conference, ‘Fathoming the Future’, 6 to 8 October 2014 at the QinetiQ Maritime Autonomy Centre, Haslar, UK. Hosted by the UK Ministry of Defence, QinetiQ and The Society of Maritime Industries.

Autonomy sits as one of the ‘8 Great Technologies’ identified by the UK Government. The use of these systems in the naval domain is set to see a significant increase in the future, following similar exploitation in areas such as unmanned air vehicles, marine science and commercial transport.

The Maritime Autonomous Systems (MAS) Conference will examine the future implications of autonomy and its impact on current naval concepts and operations. It has been designed to draw together the key elements in the exploitation of autonomy leading to a perspective on their impact on future naval operations. It will provide:
•    Government Only sessions where priorities and perspectives can be shared.
•    Industry views on current and future technology evolution.
•    Opportunities to see and feel the technologies in the market-place today.
•    A forum for creating a common view on technical and operational challenges stakeholders must address.

The conference will provide Government Only sessions where priorities and perspectives can be shared, plus industry views on current and future technology evolution. The event provides opportunities to see and feel the technologies in the market-place today, plus a forum for creating a common view on technical and operational challenges stakeholders must address.

This conference will provide an important step in understanding the current and future seascape in which these challenges must be met. The 3 day event includes five sessions, keynote speakers, chair of the sessions and consideration of issues in accordance with the following programme.
