Launch & Recovery 2014 Hosted by American Society of Naval Engineers

The Launch & Recovery Symposium 2014, November 19th to 20th, at the Maritime Institute (MITAGS) Conference Center will be hosted by American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE).

The theme for the 2014 Symposium is ‘Mission Effectiveness, Safety and Affordability’.

This theme applies to commercial and government organizations, and is focused on achieving the highest operational return on life-cycle cost, and at the same time minimizing operational risks.

Participation is encouraged from all international segments of industry and government with an interest in improving vehicle operations from surface craft, and also from all researchers, designers and manufacturers who contribute the necessary technologies or products.

The scope of the conference is intended to include all aspects of launch and recovery of manned and unmanned vehicle systems (surface, air and subsurface) from surface platforms, and the vehicles themselves.

Previous Launch & Recovery Symposia were outstanding successes drawing upon leading experts from around the world to discuss emergent technical issues. The 2012 Launch & Recovery Symposium included emphasis on operational experience, updates on the evolution of existing systems and concepts, and discussions of human systems integration issues.

ASNE – American Society of Naval Engineers

ASNE is the seventh oldest technical society in the United States

ASNE was founded in 1888 by a group of naval engineering pioneers, most of them officers of the U.S. Navy's Engineering Corps, who sought a unified approach to their profession in order to make the most of new advances in technology.

The purposes of ASNE are:

To advance the knowledge and practice of naval engineering in public and private applications and operations.
To enhance the professionalism and well-being of members.
To promote naval engineering as a career field.

For 125 years, the Society’s objectives have been strengthened and preserved to meet the changing needs of a time-honored profession.

Today ASNE conducts a variety of technical meetings and symposia, publishes the highly regarded Naval Engineers Journal and a number of other technical proceedings and publications, and fosters professional development and technical information exchange through technical committees, local section activities and cooperative efforts with government organizations and other professional societies.
