The Humminbird SI Combo features Side Imaging® and DualBeam PLUS sonar with up to 8000 Watts PTP power output. The 10.4" (265mm) display includes Navionics compatible GPS chartplotting with built-in ContourXD maps. Humminbird use three technologies working together for a high definition underwater view. Traditional 2D and Down Imaging are used together for a straight down view, while Side Imaging reaches out to both sides.

Humminbird Side Imaging Sonar uses high frequency sonar, not a camera, to cut through murky water providing clear, picture-like images of the bottom and underwater structures. It is an effective structure-finding tool and, with coverage of 146 metres (480 feet) from side to side, an area that used to take hours to search can be completed in minutes.

Side Imaging Sonar uses a razor thin beam to take a ‘sonar snapshot’ of the area up to 73 metres (240 feet) to the left and right of the units location. The return image is then added to the images taken immediately before and after to build a detailed view of the sea, lake or river bottom.  The chartplotter can be used to mark the GPS location of an underwater structure or area of interest directly on the screen. The GPS memory can store up to 3000 waypoints and up to 50 tracks.

Humminbird Side Imaging technology can also be used straight down to see underwater detail below the boat.  Down Imaging ‘snapshots’ are created with high-frequency sound waves emitted in razor thin slices. Underwater timber, brush, bridge pilings, rocks and any other structure are viewed in detail as vessels patrol on the surface.
