Livorsi Marine fuel and water level senders provide an accurate and continuous readout of fuel or water levels even in a high speed craft. The sender consists of a single in-tank probe and an amplifier. This innovative technology does not require a traditional float arm assembly. The fuel probe is constructed of concentric tubing with a small brass or aluminium tube inside a larger aluminium tube that is placed vertically in the tank.
The inner tube acts as a capacitor reading how much air is in the tube and changes in value as the fuel level rises or falls. The amplifier converts these values to a signal suitable to drive a standard meter or other display. The capacitor can even detect water in the fuel tank. The sender is easily installed in the standard float arm assembly mounting plate using the standard SAE 5 bolt pattern.
A major advantage of Livorsi fuel and water level senders is the absence of moving parts. The units are impervious to mechanical failure and the design greatly reduces needle bounce on the gauge. The probe comes in 300mm (12”) increments and can be cut to any length. The probe can fit tanks from 100mm (4”) to 3 metre (120”) deep and is available for diesel, petrol (gas) or gasohol fuels.
The water sensor probe is constructed of a PVC tube with a stainless steel wire along the outside and an insulated wire through the centre. The readings on the meter change as the water level rises and falls on the sensor wire.
