Yanmar 8LV Series Diesel Engines deliver high performance for new build or repowering. The design objective with the 8LV series engines is high power, high torque and low vibration. The twin turbo V8 diesel 8LV320 (320 hp) and 8LV370 (370 hp) with common-rail fuel injection deliver a high level of acceleration and top speed. Environmental considerations include low emissions, low noise plus fuel economy that can reduce operating costs and increase operating range for professional sector craft.
As part of Yanmar’s dedication to achieving maximum performance from minimum weight the 8LV is a large displacement engine weighing in dry at 435 kg (960 lb). For low crawling speeds in gear and during docking procedures the 8LV idles at 550 rpm. Maximum engine speed is 3800 rpm. The 8LV series utilises a 12 volt, 180 amp alternator to charge onboard electrics.
To assist installation for new builds and re-powering projects the 8LV uses the Yanmar VCS CAN-bus control system. The engine is designed for simple servicing procedures and access to relevant components.The 8LV is available as a single or twin engine installation with KMH50 transmission, in down angle and V-drive versions, or ZT370 twin-propeller sterndrive. YANMAR offers a range of propellers matched to various applications and performance requirements.
Designed and built by Yanmar, the ZT370 sterndrive is the perfect transmission match for the 8LV series diesel engines.The quiet, hydrodynamic ZT370 sterndrive utilises power steering and trim, a hydraulic clutch designed for shockless engagement, mechanical / electro magnetic shift and precision forged gears for long life. The large rudder dimensions give superior handling. Two counter-rotating propellers deliver balanced thrust, high performance acceleration and tight-hold tracking in turns.
