Fortress Marine Anchors are precision-machined from a high-tensile, corrosion-resistant, aluminum magnesium alloy. The alloy is as strong as steel, but only half the weight. Fortress Anchors have sharp edged flukes which are designed to penetrate fast and deep into most sea bottoms. Fortress Anchors have been featured in holding power tests for military and professional craft and have been able to withstand pull loads that have averaged over 200x their weight.
Extensively engineered from both hydrodynamic and structural standpoints, the holding power and reduced weight of Fortress Anchors allows for lighter weight deployment and retrieval systems. Fortress Anchors are Type Approved by the American Bureau of Shipping, and models FX-37 to FX-125 models are certified by DNV as Super High Holding Power (SHHP) anchors.
Fortress Anchors enable the user to choose between two shank / fluke angles to provide high performance holding power in various sea bottoms. The standard 32° angle is used for sand, mud or clay. A 45° angle can also be selected, which increases the holding power in soft mud. Fortress Anchors feature Mud Palms which are designed to help the anchor set faster in common sea bottoms, and are anodized to provide a durable finish and extend the life of the anchor.
Fortress Anchors can be quickly disassembled for compact storage as a spare or storm anchor. Fortress Anchors comes in eight sizes capable of anchoring craft between 16 feet (5 metre) and 150 feet (46 metre).
