CPI Marine manufactures both air and air-backed foam collars for RHIBs. The air bladder used in both applications is a heavy duty, wear-resistant urethane film construction with heat welded seams. CPI Marine air collars have an advantage over conventional baffle chambered tubes because each chamber has an individual bladder which can be removed, repaired and replaced without taking the tube off of the boat.

CPI Marine air collars are constructed of 40 oz polyurethane for the outer cover and the bladders are made using a urethane film. All bladders have an air valve assembly which houses both the air fill and pressure relief valves. In the event of damage all air tubes come with a spare port / starboard and bow bladder which can be carried onboard and changed quickly.

Air-backed foam collars can be specified for heavy bumper applications. This type of collar uses foam for a bumper but has an air bladder behind to help cushion impact. The foam is a 2.2 lbs/cu ft (35.2kg/cu m) closed cell polyethylene (PE) foam that absorbs less than 3% water. Completed foam sections are heat welded and hotwired shaped to a finished profile. The collar will have one or two air bladders for both the port and starboard side of the boat.

Options include rub strake, lifelines, anti skid coating and logos. Attachment method is typically 12mm (½ inch) diameter rope strips that slide into a rope channel fabricated on the boat by the boat builder. An alternative attachment method is a bolt on system.
