Sealegs Amphibious Marine Craft are designed to seamlessly travel over both land and water with variable propeller and wheel propulsion. Sealegs give rescue and patrol organizations multi-role capabilities to carry-out effective and rapid response in challenging environments. Sealegs amphibious boats are purpose built as highly versatile and reliable rescue craft that offer the ability to perform critical missions in areas previously considered inaccessible.
A Sealegs boat can be driven from a storage location, down a boat ramp or beach and into the water. Once in the water the Sealegs wheels are easily retracted into the ‘UP’ position and are completely out of the water. The boat is then driven and used as normal. When approaching land the Sealegs wheels are lowered into the ‘DOWN’ position whilst still moving through the water. When the Sealegs wheels touch the bottom the boat can be driven up onto land.
The Sealegs system consists of motorised, retractable and steerable wheels which are fitted to specially designed boats to give users a fully integrated, turn-key package. The Sealegs system works by having motorised wheels powered by an on-board 24hp Honda driven hydraulic power-pack. This gives a user variable speed, both forward and reverse, on land of up to10 kph (6 mph).
Sealegs craft can lead deployments into remote or natural disaster areas in full operational capability without formal docking facilities or supporting infrastructure. The Sealegs system utilises all submersible components and the Sealegs hull is built of 5083 aluminum construction. Sealegs, built to Lloyds special craft standards, is US Coast Guard and CE compliant.
