Southampton Boat Show 2019, held in the port of Southampton UK from 13 to 22 September, features some of the world’s most prestigious exhibitors and brands.

Organised by British Marine, the Southampton Show includes one of Europe's largest purpose built marinas with over 2 kilometres of pontoons with more than 300 boats on display.

This waterside event showcases the world's leading engines, electronics, components and equipment. The annual event hosts global, European and UK launches of yachts, RIBs and motor boats.

Norman Kemish and Arthur Gale launched the first Southampton Boat Show which ran for just six days, from 29 September to 4 October 1969. The early Boat Show was a far more modest affair than today’s event, solely contained within Mayflower Park and the army, based on the other side of the river at Marchwood Military Port, supplying the small pontoon where just a handful of boats were moored.

In 2018, the Boat Show celebrated its golden anniversary. Over the last 50 years it has been the launchpad for boating legends, seen the evolution of ground-breaking technology and tracked the rise of global marine brands.

Every year, the Show welcomes historic vessels. This year the frigate ‘Shtandart’, a full-size replica of a man’o’war will be at the Show. Construction of the original was personally directed by Peter the Great following his lengthy visits to Britain over several years where he studied the building of warships at the Royal Dockyards. The original Shtandart was launched in 1703 and was the flagship of the first Russian Baltic fleet.

'Gipsy Moth IV' will be at the Show. She is the vessel that Sir Francis Chichester sailed when he became the first person to solo circumnavigate the globe in 1966-67 at the age of 65. It was his voyage that inspired the Golden Globe race of 1968.

Located on Harbour Parade the Boat Show is open 09:30 to 18:30 from Friday 13 to Saturday 21 September. On Sunday 22 September the show closes at 18.00.

With over 1,600 members, British Marine represents an industry worth around £3 billion that employs 30,000 people in the UK.
