Outboards Over 300hp - Click any image below for more information.

An outboard motor is a self-contained unit that includes engine, gearbox and propeller. Outboards provide very responsive propulsion and steering control. Large outboards are designed to be bolted to the transom of a boat and can be tilted in shallow water. Outboard motor shaft lengths are standardized to match industry standard transom heights. If the shaft is too long it will create drag which will reduce performance and fuel economy. If the shaft is too short the motor will have increased ventilation and overheating. Outboard motors can be used as single, twin, triple or four engine installations.
