Inboard Diesel Engines - Click any image below for more information.

Inboard diesel engines are enclosed within the hull of the craft. An inboard motor can be connected by a driveshaft to a propeller or by a combined steering and propulsion unit known as a stern drive. Inboard engines are also used in conjunction with external water jet units. Inboard engines can be specified as single or twin engine installations. The military use both aircraft and ships to transport RIBs and high speed craft. Many organisations now specify that petrol (gasoline) cannot be transported by aircraft or ship. Diesel fuel and variants are now selected for these craft. In this sector the design objective is engines with high performance and low weight ratio.
